A glance back to 2013

With all these year in review things I’ve been thinking a lot about where I am in my life and where I was this time last year and I realized how far I have come! This time last year I was still thinking about nothing but the fact that Dec.2 last year I met my musical hero the amazing miss¬†Rachael Sage¬†and looking at the exact date I had just a few days before performed in one of my first PVS concerts. At the time I figured that this was as great as my life was going to get, and I was happy with it.¬†¬†Last spring as part of our English class¬†Tara Bernier¬†had us do 30×30, doing that didn’t seem like anything at the time but it provided me with the skills to just pull something meaningful or at least something, out of nothing, this excercise instilled in me the self-confidence that I could maybe not just write English class poetry but that I could take my love of music and my poems and write songs out of the 2. This past summer I got to really be a part of the teaching staff at Artspace’s summer camps with¬†Heather¬†rather than the awkward assistant type I’ve been in years past letting me feel like a knowledgable musician and not just an overgrown kid, student. And then this fall, thanks to the confidence in my music all the writing I did for 30×30 gave me and some other things too, I got an independent study in music production, using this time to just discover where my music could go I realised I can write songs. Making my natural choice, when I needed a new class to replace the physics class that was just too small to work, the music comp class that runs that period. Thanks to the amazing members of that class (namely:Alexandria,Cody, and Jer) I learned how to bring my words to living music. And thanks to all those amazing moments of good luck this year… I went from the girl who when i met my hero couldn’t sing the songs that I sing in my sleep to… four days after the 1 year anniversary of the day I met Rach I released my first single, and plan on having the rest of the EP out soon to follow it. I’m the girl now who, thanks to the invaluable wisdom, friendship and guidance of¬†Jonathan Edward¬†and, the encouragement and amazing conducting of¬†Jonathan Harvey¬†every Tuesday, is being a soloist for the PVS the same group that only a year ago I was excited to just be hiding behind the orchestra in. And this season of performing I’ve also been a soloist with every other group that am part of so that I still get some nerves but it’s no more than when I go on with a whole chorus, something that I knew would happen eventually but that I never thought would happen so soon. I just can’t believe that this all has been in only one year!!! I want to also thank my peps who see me the way I really am (crazy) but still stick around, like…
Rebecca~without you I don’t know where I would be, not only have you become one of my best friends but I know I would not be in the place I am without you, and wherever I would be it certainly not so safely hidden from the Narnian wood.
¬†Phoebe Blaisdell~ You are you and for all that means I can’t thank you enough I know that you don’t know 1/2 of what you do for me every day so thank you, I love you¬†
Skelly~Thank you for everything! My high school career would not has been anything like what its been if it wasn’t for you. When I first met you I was shocked by your methods and was afraid that you would the downfall of my musical career. Instead the work I have done with you, the things you’ve taught me and, the experiences my time with you has afforded to me have been what has put my music at the amazing uphill slope it’s traveling. There were so many things I didn’t know I needed to know or things I thought I needed that you have told me the answers about. So thank you, if I had to go back to time and choose a different person to spend something like 15+ hours I don’t think I could.¬†
And finally
Mum(¬†Cassie)~I thank you! I know you think I don’t appreciate all the things you do like, telling me you like my songs or insisting on coming to all my shows but I do. You the member of the audience that is constant, venus change, ensembles change but your proud face in the audience never waivers and I wanna say thanks for that. Even if I say I don’t care about you coming, I do notice whether your there or not no matter how big the audience is.¬†¬†I love you mummy!!
And to all the other amazing people out there to do so much for me to keep me chugging along every day likeAngela,Jason,Una,Anna,Anna¬†and every one else who reads this know that I love and appreciate what all of you do and whether the way you help me be that what ever it is you do in your life makes me say-“Anna stop being such a bum” of if it just brings me joy I say thank you and I love you!¬†

The Christmas Dilemma

Every year we spend far more time then we’d like to admit to ourselves and others pondering over what we want to receive and what we want to purchase for others in this holiday season so this year I’ve decided I make it easy on all my friends I’ve sent them all a list about what they can get me and a template for them to use when sending me there wishes. It’s this:

So every year everyone asks me what I would like to recieve for Chistmas and on the spot my answer is always cash since I can never think of anything better,so this year I’m making y’all a list and then I can just tell y’all to read my list, and you’ll know what I want.

1)Anything from the MPRESS RECORDS store, including items not actually offered but if you have, I wouldn’t turn down such as:kazoos, shirts and stickers (exempt from this request: all of Rachael Sage’s music as I have that whole collection and all of¬†Seth Glier‘s MPRESS releases and ‘Why’ as I have all of those too) hint hint: the poster from Rachael’s vinyl and Melissa Ferrick’s music are great places to start.¬†

2)Gift cards: iTunes,Maurice’s,All About Beads,World Eye Books, Barns & Noble Books, Starbucks, Shelburne Falls Coffee,if MPRESS is handing out gift cards I’ll take those to as Rachael has a new cd coming soon,Hulu

3)Books,ask Anna about that dept. she knows my book tastes better then I do, but manga and music related are always safe areas to start near

4)Cloths, sequins, jeans and sweatshirts (Gift cards can be purchased for the purpose of me buying these things)

5)Music: this can be but is not limited to: not previously specified cds, sheet music, musical instruments, and concert tickets, best concert to get me tickets to would be Seth’s concert at the Art’s Block on Dec.27 &/or his show a Noho’s Firstnight

6)All of you attending my concerts throughout Dec. I have plenty of them to go round but best would be my concert on Dec.21 w/PVS since it’s going to be my fist big time solo and I’d love to share that w/as many of you as possible so that when I go and latter beat myself up over how terribly I’ve done you can tell me how wrong I am and I can respond w/”your just saying that bc your my friends”

7)Cash: so I can do things like go ice skating when ever I’m in G-Field and free at a tim when the rink is open.

8)Electronics: headphones w/ a really nice base, any other electronics good too like a new tuner metronome

Zucchini

Hey guys,

So I don’t know about you but I am always looking for new recipes to try out. Over the summer when I was drowning under all the zucchini I was getting I decided to make zucchini bread. But I was scared that it would turn out as this horrible mussy, vegetable, thing that wasn’t anything worth even having in the same room with humans. So I went to the amazing Google and asked it,”where can I find zucchini bread that tastes like cake and this is what I found!~

Zucchini Bread Recipe

  • Prep time:¬†15 minutes
  • Cook time:¬†55 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups grated fresh zucchini
  • 2/3 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • Pinch salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1 cup dried cranberries or raisins (optional)

METHOD

1¬†Preheat the oven to 350¬įF (175¬įC). Butter two 5 by 9 inch loaf pans.

2 In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in the grated zucchini and then the melted butter.

3 Sprinkle baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir it in. Add the flour, a third at a time, stirring after each incorporation. Sprinkle in the cinnamon and nutmeg over the batter and mix. Fold in the nuts and dried cranberries or raisins if using.

4 Divide the batter equally between the loaf pans. Bake for 55 minutes (check for doneness at 50 minutes) or until a wooden pick inserted in to the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes. Turn out onto wire racks to cool thoroughly.

Yield: Makes 2 loaves.

This amazing recipe I found was on Simplyrecipies.com and since then I gotten dozens of other recipes and loved them all. I recommend you take them for a ride your tung and local gym will both thank you.

They came, you through blame

Mass Ave vs. Broadway

Each swelled, each speaking the same

It’s a language as foreign as any

As the night wore on they came

and they left

they do nothing right and their accuracy was meh

so just let it go and be the one…
